NHL Stanley Cup Betting Odds: It All Comes Down To Game Seven
The sports world has been fixated in the past several months with the NBA. Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Dwight Howard, and Carmelo Anthony, all Olympic teammates from a gold medal winning team, fighting for the NBA Championship.
Now, that fight has come down to Howard and Bryant, and the NBA Finals have been center stage in the sports world. On a side stage, however, has been an equally riveting series in the NHL Finals. The Detroit Red Wings and Pittsburgh Penguins have had an epic battle.
They have gone back and forth, neither team being able to win on the opponents ice through the first six games of the series. That brings the series to tonight, and a game seven in Detroit, where the winner will hoist the Stanley Cup.
The Red Wings were the betting favorite coming into the series, and they quickly jumped on Pittsburgh 2-0 in the first two games. It led many experts to believe that the Penguins would suffer a similar fate to the one handed to them last year against these same Red Wings.
The series then shifted back to Pittsburgh, however, and the Penguins rejuvenated their fan base with wins in both games three and four. That tied the series and sent it back to Detroit for a pivotal game five.
Detroit took game five and again the experts believed the Penguins might be finished. Not so fast. Pittsburgh survived game six at home and now have forced the most exciting game in sports, a game seven.
Tonight, one of these two teams will become champions, and for anyone that was fixated on the NBA, watching game seven tonight could more than make up for a great series that has been missed.
