Northwestern and Miami to Open Season With Heavy Hearts Tonight
The Northwestern football team has gone through much adversity over the past few years, however, nothing will be as difficult as the task they face when they step on the field tonight.
Their head coach, Randy Walker, passed away a couple of months ago due to an apparent heart attack, and players on the field tonight will be reminded of Walker everywhere they turn.
Patches will be worn by the players, decals will be on their helmets, and a halftime tribute will be shown on the scoreboard.
It will be emotional for both teams playing in the game as Walker not only was the coach at Northwestern, but he played and coached at Miami.
Expect some tears from both sides as they try to overcome the emotion that comes with losing someone so important to both of their programs.
