Not Much Changes in College Football Polls, Trojans, Tigers on Top
USC retained its top spot in the latest college football polls, although LSU's strong showing over South Carolina has inched them closer to the Trojans and the top spot.
USC gathered 43 first place votes to LSU's 22, but the total number of points got much closer as the Trojans have 1,601 to the Tigers 1,580.
Oklahoma is third in the polls, but there is a significant drop off in the points. The Sooners received no first place votes and their total is 1,456 in the AP poll.
Florida got a scare in Mississippi on Saturday but held on for the victory and is still the number four team in the poll.
West Virginia, who continues to steamroll opponents rounded out the top five with 1,388 points.
The rest of the top ten is California at #6, followed by Texas at #7. Ohio State, who is still unproven early in the season is #8, with another big ten team, Wisconsin at #9.
Rutgers, who surprised everyone last year with a breakout season, appears ready to follow that up with another strong showing. The Scarlett Knights are 3-0 and the #10 team in the land.
Cincinnati, with a 4-0 record has battled their way into the top twenty five for the first time this year coming in at #24.
Nebraska narrowly avoided falling out of the poll and is hanging on to the #25 spot.
Louisville, which has now lost back to back games and Texas A&m who got crushed in Miami Thursday night by the Hurricanes, both fell out of the top twenty five.
