Not Much Changing In The World Of NBA Betting
The New York Giants won the Super Bowl last year after almost not even making the playoffs. In baseball, the Phillies won the World series after only clinching their playoff spot with two days left in the regular season.
Those types of stories play out great in other sports, but in basketball it rarely happens like that. The top teams in the conferences often are the teams that advance to play for titles.
Once again this year it appears that will be the case. The Los Angeles Lakers have not shown any ill effects from losing last year's NBA finals. If anything, the Lakers look more focused so far, and it looks as though they have no competition in the Western Conference.
In the East, Boston, Orlando, and Cleveland are head and shoulders better than anyone else in the conference. One of those teams will represent the conference in the finals. It is that cut and dry in the NBA.
Three teams in the East and one team in the West. That is four teams with legitimate championship hopes in a sport that will still send eight teams to the playoffs in each conference.
With the other sports, how a team is playing at the end of the season matters. Not in basketball. The rosters are not as deep as the other leagues, and it creates a feeling that the best teams throughout the year will still be the best teams at the end.
There are exceptions to every rule, but so far this year there are no indications that the trend of the best teams during the year going to the championship will be broken.
