Notre Dame And Ohio State Flex Their Muscle in Week 2
The #1 and #5 ranked teams in the nation answered their critics on Saturday as Ohio State and Notre Dame both turned in dominating performances in their first big tests of the year.
Ohio State, which came into their game with #2 Texas as the underdog on the road turned out a dominating game on both sides of the ball as they manhandled defending national champion Texas 24-7 in Austin.
The win was a punctuation mark on the idea that the Buckeyes are the best college team in the land.
Notre Dame on the other hand came into their game with Penn State with something to prove after squeeking by Georgia Tech last week.
The Irish settled any dispute that arose from last weeks game by trouncing the Nittany Lions in South Bend. The defense, which has been much maligned, put on their second great performance in a row, and Heisman hopeful Brady Quinn led the offense in dominating fashion.
Both Ohio State and Notre Dame have hurdles to jump the rest of the year, but both provided insight into the fact that they can compete for a national title.
