Notre Dame And USC Meet With Season On The Line
Notre Dame is currently #5 in the BCS standings and any last hopes of playing for a national title rest in their hands tonight when they travel to play the #3 ranked USC Trojans.
USC has one loss on the season but has played well of late and they are hoping that a big win over Notre Dame will vault them up and over Michigan into the #2 spot and into the title game against Ohio State.
The Irish on the other hand must win convincingly if they are to have any shot at the title game. Even if Notre Dame does that, they still in all probability will need Arkansas to upset Florida in the SEC championship game to stake claim to the #2 spot.
Michigan is the only team in the top five other than Ohio State whose regular season is over. The Wolverines will surely be pulling for Notre Dame tonight as an Irish win would, in all likelihood set up a rematch of last weeks Ohio State Michigan game in the Fiesta Bowl for the national title.
Florida could be the odd team out in the whole picture after narrowly defeating rival FSU today. The Gators have looked sluggish in their past few games and that is sure to hurt them in the human polls.
Tonight's game is set for an 8:00 kick off and will be televised on ABC.
