Notre Dame wins on Saturday Night Using Luck of The Irish
Michigan State had Notre Dame right where they wanted them thru three quarters on Staurday, then the Irish found a little of that Notre Dame mystique and rallied for a 40-37 victory in Michigan.
Notre Dame scored 19 points in the fourth quarter and kept whatever was left of their national title hopes alive with this miracle.
The Michigan State faithfull sat stunned as the Spartans 4th down attempt with 50 seconds left resulted in an interception, and sealed the win for the Irish.
Notre Dame's defense, which was exposed all game, stiffened in the last quarter, and an offense playing from behind, came alive just in time to save the night for Notre Dame.
This figured to be a battle as oddsmakers had the point spread at 3.5, and apparently they were right on target, as the game ended with Michigan State covering by a half of a point. Ironically, Notre Dame missed an extra point in the fourth quarter.
