Oakland Clinches Division Title and Completes AL Playoff Teams
The Oakland A's have been trying for a couple of days to clinch the American League West title, and on Tuesday the stars alligned for them after they beat Seattle 12-3, and the Angels lost to Texas 5-2.
The A's join the Yankees, Twins, and Tigers in the playoffs, and the only thing left to determine is who will be playing who.
Oakland will open the divisional playoffs against either the Twins or the Tigers.
Frank Thomas and some of the other A's have been in the position of winning their division before, but for newcomers to the fraternity, such as catcher Jason Kendall, the feeling was sweet.
Oakland will be able to celebrate the feeling of reaching their first goal for the next day or two, then it will be time to turn their attention to the playoffs and taking the next step in their overall goal, which is to win a World Series Championship.
