Offshore Gambling Companies Playing Safe in U.S. Market
US Citizens remain gambling online in record numbers, but the executives who are running the offshore gambling operations accepting wagers are taking serious pre-caution since the arrest of industry icon David Carruthers.
Gambling experts say it's possible the FBI will target other offshore gambling companies just like the BetonSports.com arrest. Here at the CasinoGamblingWeb.com, we believe the BetonSports.com bust was an isolated incident, something the US government had been planning for years.
According to our offshore sports betting news columnist Vincent Tapologlia III, "Although the sportsbook operators give the impression they are not too concerned, I don't see them rushing to be in the U.S. market right now".
Online sportsbook Bodog.com, based in Costa Rica, cancelled a marketing conference in Las Vegas, Nevada this month, shortly after the arrest of David Carruthers, the former CEO of BetOnSports.com. Carruthers was charged with violating the 1961 Wire Act. BetOnSports has stopped taking U.S. bets, a majority of its business.
In a statement made by Bodog.com CEO Calvin Ayre, "Any executive that has anything to do with online gaming, no matter how minor, has got to be apprehensive about setting foot in the United States,".
