The stadium was filled with emotion in Ohio today before even one snap of football occurred. The emotion was centered not around one of the biggest rivalries in sports history, but around the passing of legendary Michigan coach Bo Schembechler Friday evening. Both teams honored the man who was such an integral part in the rivalry before the game, then their collective attention turned to the game.

For sixty minutes the two best teams in college football went at each other with ferocious intensity and in the end it was the home team, Ohio State, who came away with a victory and a spot in the national title game.

The Buckeyes jumped on Michigan's #3 ranked defense early and the held off a Wolverines second half rally to take the win, the Big Ten Title, and a ticket to the National Title game in Tempe, Arizona.

Michigan will have to wait until tommorrow to find out exactly what this loss has done to their national title hopes and they can only hope that pollsters and the computers saw enough fight to keep them at #2 in the rankings and give them a shot at a rematch in the title game.

The loss by Michigan apparently opens the door for USC, Florida, Arkansas, Notre Dame, West Virginia, and Rutgers. Florida and Arkansas will meet in the SEC championship game. USC plays Notre Dame next week. West Virginia and Rutgers also face off to finish the season so there will be at least three teams who will be in position to lay claim to the #2 spot in the BCS in addition to Michigan.
