Olympic Basketball Team Gambling On Youth And Veteran Mix For Gold

Kobe Bryant is fresh off one of his greatest season's as a pro. He led the Lakers all the way to the NBA Championship with a team that many predicted would not even make the playoffs. Even after the loss to the Celtics, Bryant has turned the page.

The reason he has been able to move on so quickly is the Olympics. Bryant thrives on competition, and there is no bigger stage than representing one's country.

He will be joined by a team mixed with veterans and young players that will be trying to bring the United States back to the top of the food chain in international basketball.

This year, the country will be gambling on the mixture of youth and veterans to erase the disappointment of the last Olympics. This is a sport that until 2004 had dominated everybody they played.

In addition to Bryant, the team is made up of other veterans such as Dwayne Wade and Carmelo Anthony. Among the young players are Chris Paul and Deron Williams. No matter the team, they all will have one focus and one goal of reclaiming the Americans place on top of the world.

"We knew exactly what we felt we needed in terms of adding certain components to our roster, and the good news is we were able to accomplish that," said USA Basketball Managing Director Jerry Colangelo.
