Olympic Gambling Heating Up As Summer Games In Beijing Approach

With every sporting event comes gambling and there is no bigger sporting event in the world than the Olympics. The Summer games are just a few weeks away and that means that gambling on the Olympics has begun to heat up.

China, the host country, is favored by sports books to win the most medals overall. They are also favored individually to win the most Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals.

China is -300 to win the most gold medals. The United States comes in behind them at number two, with odds of +165. Russia is third at +1,500, and anyone choosing any other country will get +2,000 on their money.

The disparity between the United States, China, and the rest of the world is huge. Odds makers are predicting that it is a two country race to see who can achieve more medals.

In the baseball tournament, Cuba is the favorite at -150, followed by the U.S. at +175. Japan is third at +600, and every other country is at least a 4000-1 long shot.

Basketball is a sport that the United States used to dominate internationally. The gambling odds are predicting that the Americans regain their throne. They are -300. Spain is the only country close in the odds at +300.

The games officially get under way on August 8th. Many of the tournaments will not end until August 24th. The individual events will be spread out throughout the competition.
