Oregon Ducks And Kansas Jayhawks No Longer Betting Long Shots

When the college football season began way back in September, LSU and Oklahoma were both ranked highly in the preseason polls, but it is two other teams currently in the top five, that have come out of nowhere.

The Oregon Ducks and Kansas Jayhawks are two of the more unlikely teams to grace the top five of the BCS this year, and that is even with South Florida spending some time there earlier this year.

The Ducks were perceived to have a strong offense, but many felt with California and USC on their schedule, that they would falter and stay in the middle of the pack in the top twenty five.

Surprise, surprise, entering this weeks games, the Ducks are the #2 team in the BCS, and are making a strong argument for being in the title game in Miami.

Speaking of surprises, the Kansas Jayhawks were expected to be in the rankings in November. The college basketball rankings. Not even the most self absorbed analysts can admit to putting the Jayhawks in the top five in the preseason, but with games still against #4 Oklahoma, and #5 Missouri, wins in both of those games could give Kansas the strongest case for playing for a national title.

Both the Ducks and the Jayhawks are on magical rides right now, but also both must beware, because as South Florida found out, the feel good story ends quickly when a game is lost.
