Packers Hoping Their Gambling On Aaron Rodgers Pays Off
The Green Bay Packers are taking a big step this upcoming season. They are gambling the franchise that they can successfully replace one of the best quarterbacks in the history of the NFL.
Brett Favre has been the main focus of everything that has gone on in the off season in Green Bay. Now, that focus of so many months no longer is playing for the team.
The Packers will begin the post Favre era on Monday Night Football today against the Cincinnati Bengals. In past years all eyes would be on Favre to see how long he played in the first preseason game. This year, however, the eyes will be on Aaron Rodgers.
Green Bay believes in Rodgers so much that they alienated the best quarterback in franchise history. Most teams would jump for joy if their longtime quarterback wanted to give them one more year of service, but not the Packers.
They created a plan when Favre retired after the season and they have remained on course with that plan throughout the off season. Now, it is time to unveil that plan, and Monday will give the first indication to whether that plan pays off.
