Pettitte Not To Testify in Front of Congressional Committee
If the Congressional Committee is trying to get to the truth in the Roger Clemens, Brian McNamee he said, he said, saga, their efforts took a turn for the worse on Monday.
It has been learned that Andy Pettitte, the person who was to shed the most light on this controversy, will not be testifying in front of the committee on Wednesday.
In addition to Pettitte, Chuck Knoblauch, and Kirk Radomski, will also no longer be required to appear. In their place, a member of Senator Mitchell's staff, Charlie Scheeler will be testifying.
It is not yet known if Pettite implicated Clemens when he spoke to congressional lawyers during a deposition on Monday. It is thought that Pettitte's story does not quite match Clemens'.
Pettite contradicted himself several times during his meeting on Monday, that is according to what a source told ESPN's T.J. Quinn.
The stage is now set for Clemens and McNamee to have their showdown in front of the Committee on Wednesday. With the other three people being eliminated from the hearing, the spotlight will shine solely on these two, who have vastly different stories to tell.
