Phoenix Suns Gambling on Shaq To Deliver NBA Title To The Desert

Shaquille O'Neal has shown that he is at his best when he has something to prove. The Phoenix Suns will be the beneficiary of that attitude when he tries to resurrect his career in the desert.

The Suns traded for Shaq right before the all star break. They are hoping they get the dominant Shaq and not the player that sometimes loafs through the season.

O'Neal fell out of favor in Miami with both head coach Pat Riley and star player Dwayne Wade. The two at times felt that Shaq was not in good enough condition coming into this season.

O'Neal is now in a no9 win situation. If he continues his slow season, people will start to believe that he could be on the downside of his career. That he can no longer be dominant.

If he does get back to that form, however, he will face criticism for not going one hundred percent in the first half of the year in Miami. Not an envious position to be in.

The Suns will not care what others think of their new acquisition. O'Neal has been brought in for one reason, and one reason only. To help Phoenix win a title.

If a title is achieved, then the younger star that they gave up in Shawn Marion, and the enormous financial obligation that comes to the desert with Shaq, will be well worth it.
