Pittsburgh Fans Betting On Number One Seed In NCAA Tournament

If the Pittsburgh Panthers were on the bubble for a number one seed in the NCAA tournament before Saturday, they may be able to sleep a little easier after their performance against top ranked Connecticut.

The Panthers may have sealed their fate as a number one seed after beating the top ranked Huskies for the second time this season. They used physical inside play to defeat UConn 7-60.

A couple of weeks ago Pittsburgh went to Connecticut and beat a then-number one UConn team. The Panthers took over the top spot in the rankings that week, but lost their next game and fell. They had battled their way back to number three in the latest polls.

Connecticut, on the other hand, feel from the top spot but then played exceptionally in the coming weeks. They regained their number one ranking this week, but it will be short lived after losing to the Panthers on Saturday.

This loss may have been more damaging to the Huskies than the last one because it may have cost them a shot at being a number one seed in the NCAA tournament. Most likely they will now become a two seed.

They can, however, hold out hope that they can regain that number one seed. There is a chance the two teams will meet again in the Big East tournament later this month.
