Plenty of NFL Broadcasting Changes For This Season
This upcoming NFL television schedule has many changes, including the start of NBC broadcasting the Sunday night game, and ESPN taking over the Monday night game, which nows starts a little earlier than year's past.
The ESPN crew broadcasting the Monday night game now includes newspaper columnist and television personality Tony Kornheiser, the rock-solid all-purpose announcer Mike Tirico, and of course, ESPN football broadcasting long-timer Joe Theismann. Kick-off time on Monday night will be 8:40, instead of the usual 9:05 kick-off in year's past.
NBC got a deal that will allow them to air the Sunday night game for the next 6 seasons, costing NBC around $600 million dollars. As part of the deal, NBC will also get rights to 2 superbowls during that time period.
The Sunday night games on NBC will be announced Al Michaels and John Madden, the former Monday night NFL broadcasters for ABC. Bob Costas will host 'Football Night in America,' NBC's pregame show, which will start at 7 p.m. EDT and include Cris Collingsworth, Sterling Sharpe and Jerome Bettis.
