Preakness Betting Odds Favor Rachel Alexandra With Race Looming
Rachel Alexandra is a horse that has everything going for her. The philly is the Preakness Stakes betting favorite and has drawn the outside post for tomorrow's race.
Interestingly enough this year are the developments of the week leading up to the Preakness. The jockey who rode Mine That Bird to a Kentucky Derby win, Calvin Borel, has chosen to change horses for the Preakness.
Borel will be riding the favorite because he believes that Rachel Alexandra is better suited to win the Preakness. At 8/5, the odds makers appear to agree with Borel. The outside post should help Rachel Alexandra get a clean break from the gate.
Pioneer of the Nile is the second betting choice at 5/1. The horse will break from the ninth post and the jockey is Garrett Gomez. Legendary trainer Bob Baffert has been training the second choice.
Two horses have the same odds and are the co-third betting options. Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird will run from the two post, and Friesen Fire will have the five post. They both have 6/1 odds. Mine That Bird will have Mike Smith as the jockey and Friesen Fire will be run by Gabriel Saez.
In the Kentucky Derby, Mine That Bird was a 50/1 long shot. That has given hope to horses such as Luv Gov, Flying Private, and Tone It Down for the Preakness. All three of these horses have 50/1 odds.
