Preakness Stakes Betting Odds: Super Saver Favored
Lookin at Lucky was the betting favorite going into the Kentucky Derby. The outcome, however, was not favorable as Lookin at Lucky did not break strong and Super saver won the Derby. The early morning lines have been released for the Preakness Stakes, and as is usually the case, the Derby favorite is picked to win the Preakness.
Super Saver will be looking to do something that no horse has done in over three decades, win the Triple Crown. Jockey Calvin Borel has won three of the past four Derby winners, and Borel believes that Super Saver will complete the mission of winning the Triple Crown.
When the odds were released on Wednesday, Super Saver was a 5/2 choice. Lookin at Lucky was the second choice at 3/1. Paddy O'Prado, another horse that ran in the Derby, is the third pick with odds of 9/2.
After the top three, the other nine horses all have odds of 10/1 or longer. The discrepancy between the top three horses and the rest of the field shows how much odds makers believe this will be a three horse race.
Dublin and Caracortado both have odds of 10/1. Jackson Bend and Schoolyard Dreams have middle odds of 12/1 and 15/1, respectively. Northern Giant and Yawanna Twist are the long shots in the field, heading towards Saturday with 30/1 odds.
Super Saver broke from the rial in the Derby, but will not have that luxury in the Preakness. Super Saver drew the eighth post position Wednesday, with 20/1 choice Aikenite taking the inside post. Here is a full list of the betting odds for the Preakness Stakes.
