Preakness Stakes Betting Odds: Super Saver Favored On Race Day

The state of Kentucky has had their day in the sun this year when the Kentucky Derby was run two weeks ago at Churchill Downs. Today, the spotlight of the horse racing world will be on Pimlico Racetrack in Baltimore, Maryland.

Super Saver ran from the rail in the Kentucky Derby and won the race in grand fashion. Now, on the day of the 135th Preakness Stakes, Super Saver is still the betting favorite to win the second leg of the Triple Crown.

At 5/2, Super Saver, with jockey Calvin Borel aboard, is a slight favorite over Lookin at Lucky, who is 3/1. Lookin at Lucky was the favorite in the Derby, but had a poor start and was never able to recover.

In the past few years, horses have been successful in winning the first two legs of the Triple Crown. It has been the longer race at Belmont Downs, however, that has derailed many horses since Affirmed last won the Triple Crown in 1978.

Super Saver and Lookin at Lucky are joined by Paddy O' Prado at 6/1, Dublin at 10/1, and Jackson Bend at 11/1, as the only horses who ran in the Derby and are running again at Pimlico. The best odds of any of the newcomers is Caracortado at 10/1.
