ESPNews released the Golden Glove awards for the American League on Thursday and Derek Jeter tops the list. Jeter, who is the favorite to win the American League MVP award, appears on his way to collecting several awards for the outstanding season he had.

The outfielders, which are awarded by outfield and not by specific positions had three repeat winners in Torii Hunter, Ichiro Suzuki, and Vernon Wells. Wells returns a winner for the third straight year. Hunter dazzles with his stellar defensive play, and Ichiro has one of the strongest arms in the league.

In the infield, Mark Texiera is the gold glove first baseman, and although he had a down season in his power #s, he apparently did not let that affect his defense.

The surprise winner in the American League was at second base, where Mark Grudzielanek was the winner.

At third base, the winner comes from the West division winner Oakland A's, Eric Chavez. Chavez has long been thought of as one of the best defensive players in the baseball.

Behind the plate there was no surprise as the winner was Ivan Rodriguez. Rodriguez adds another trophy to a case that is getting larger with each passing year.

The pitcher that gets the award is Rodriguez's teammate Kenny Rogers. He pitched shutout ball throughout the playoffs and was rewarded on Thursday for his ability to not only pitch, but to field his position.

The National League winners will be awarded on Friday.
