Rockies Dealing Holliday To A's Could Alter Gambling Odds
It does not come as a surprise that the Colorado Rockies have traded their all star outfielder Matt Holliday. It is, however, a big surprise to see where the slugger is ending up.
Holliday was traded on Monday to the Oakland A's. The A's have been a team the past few years that have been more apt to trade away star players than acquire them, but apparently Holliday was too good to pass up.
The deal was still pending physicals from all players involved, but whenever the trade is finalized one thing is for certain, the trade will alter the gambling odds for both teams in the upcoming season.
The A's have put together an impressive young team, and the addition of Holliday should jump them up a few games in the standings. whether it is enough to make up the ground on division winner Anaheim is yet to be seen.
The Rockies, on the other hand, are taking a major step towards the future. They have acquired young talent in the trade, but it will be difficult to keep up with the Dodgers without Holliday.
"With Matt Holliday gone, it could be a long season for Colorado. If they don't find a bat to replace him in the line up, it will be difficult to compete," said baseball analyst Steve Schweiber.
