Season Begins With Betting Odds On Winning The NBA Championship
The San Antonio Spurs have created a dynasty that is similar to the one that the New England Patriots have had in the NFL, go deep into the playoffs every year and pile up championships.
Now, after winning it all last year, the Spurs are once again the favorites to win it all this season. Odds makers have the odds at 3-1 before any games have been played.
A pair of their rivals in the Western Conference come in as the second and third choice as the Phoenix Suns and Dallas Mavericks are both 4-1 picks to win it all. Of course, those odds change drastically should the Mavs wrestle Kobe Bryant away from the Lakers in a trade.
Speaking of Bryant and the Lakers, it doers not seem that the sportsbooks feel as though they have improved much from last year as they come into this year with odds of 18-1.
In the East, the Boston Celtics have gone from the laughingstock of the league the past few years, to being the favorite, as they are 3.5-1 to win the East.
Detroit, who seems to hover near the top every year, is a 38.5-1 pick, and Chicago, who is also rumored to be in the Bryant sweepstakes is a 4.75-1 pick.
If it is long shots that tickles your fancy, here are the teams odds makers feel have little shot to win the whole thing. Minnesota, fresh off trading their superstar Kevin Garnett, is 250-1, and the Atlanta Hawks are 225-1.
Many teams are in the middle of the spectrum, and anyone who has a hunch on a team needs to play them now. Once the season starts, the odds adjust according to how teams are playing and probability.
