Sharks and Sportsbooks Predict a Low Scoring Game 6
The legal offshore sportsbooks and the San Jose Sharks both have their reasons for figuring that Game 6 of their series with the Edmonton Oilers will be a relatively low-scoring affair. Although the last two contests of this Western Conference semifinal have each totaled nine goals, oddsmakers have kept tonight's number at 5 1/2. Their argument is that it will help keep the action balanced. If you bump it up to a 6-goal total, you could end up with too many bets on the under, says SportsInteraction. com oddsmaker Greg Sindall.
You'd rather move (the juice) than the numbers, especially in a series like this where the scoring's been so streaky. The scoring in this series certainly has been all over the place. The first two games finished 2-1, Game 3 ended 3-2 in overtime and the last two meetings were decided 6-3. The one constant, however, is the Oilers have come out on top when there's been more than three markers potted.
