Sports Gambling Rings Causing Deaths In Asia

Sports gambling can be a big business, and that is why many organized crime members become involved with sports betting rings. The organizations attempt to infiltrate any sports leagues they can find athletes to assist with.

In the past year, there have been many gambling ring related arrests made in various countries. The worst case scenario is that people are killed because they were involved in a gambling ring.

In China, two Chinese graduates were brutally murdered and the murderer has already been convicted. The murderer, however, has refused to tell authorities why he killed the two graduates. many believe that the two were heavily involved with an Asian gambling ring.

The problems did not stop there in China. Last week, sixteen people were arrested in a sports gambling scandal. The arrested were all members of organized soccer leagues, either as club officials or players.

Soccer is the number one sport in the world and many people are fixated on the outcome of matches. Even today, on a day when no major international matches are being played, over a hundred million people will be watching the draw for the World Cup next summer in South Africa.

The killings have not been only in China, other countries have also had to deal with untimely deaths surrounding organized sports betting rings. In most cases, either the gambler gets too greedy, or there is a fear that the gambler will expose the ring.

As the world awaits today's World Cup draw, the question still remains for authorities as to just how far people are willing to go to win a bet. In China, the road has led to several deaths, and dozens of arrests, a trend that Chinese officials would like to stop in the near future.
