Steelers And Eagles Set To Battle For Pennsylvania Rights
The Pittsburgh Steelers are just one year removed from being Super Bowl champions, but after last season, the championship seems like decades ago.
Pittsburgh never even got out of the gates last year to try to defend their title. They had an off season in which quarterback Ben Roethlisberger luckily escaped a motorcycle accident with his life, and that triggered the tone for the whole Steeler 2006 campaign.
Roethlisberger is now healthy and the Steelers have a new coach for the first time in 15 years, as Mike Timlin takes over for the retired Pittsburgh icon, Bill Cowher.
In Philadelphia, the Eagles are coming off a season where they won the NFC North, but after losing star quarterback Donovan McNabb midway through the season, they stumbled into the playoffs and were bounced out by the New Orleans Saints.
McNabb is now back healthy and the Eagles appear ready to defend their division crown and challenge for the top spot in the conference.
Both teams will probably see their starters play for about a half of tonight's game then the players battling for the final roster spots will take the controls for the second half.
The Steelers and the Eagles both come into this season with something to prove, and tonight will be the first step in seeing which team from Pennsylvania is better suited to make a Super Bowl run, even if it is just preseason.
