Super Bowl Betting Goes The Way Of Cardinals, But Steelers Win
The Arizona Cardinals took the Pittsburgh Steelers best punches on Sunday night and still kept fighting. They even took the lead with just over a minute left to go in the Super Bowl. It ended up being not enough.
Ben Roethlisberger led the Steelers the length of the field with under two minutes left to make them the first NFL franchise in history to win six Super Bowls. It came after the Cardinals made a shocking comeback against the best defense in the NFL this season.
Arizona did manage to make winners out of gamblers who believed in them. The betting line was seven points and for most of the game it looked as though Pittsburgh was going to cover that easily. Then the fourth quarter started.
Arizona scored quickly with just under ten minutes left in the game, and that cut a thirteen point lead to just six. Then, a holding call in the end zone cut the lead to four. Nobody expected what happened next.
Arizona got the ball back with less than five minutes left and Larry Fitzgerald, who was shut down all game, erupted on a long touchdown up the middle on a short pass. Suddenly the Steelers victory looked in doubt.
Then, Roethlisberger led a legendary drive that will forever be remembered for one of the best catches in Super Bowl history by Santonio Holmes. In the end, Pittsburgh won on the scoreboard and the Cardinals won for the gamblers.
