Super Bowl Betting Odds: Early Line Has Colts Favored Over Saints
The Indianapolis Colts are going back to a place where they have been just a few short years ago. The New Orleans Saints will be going to that place for the first time. The place is the Super Bowl and the Colts and saints will meet for the title.
Indianapolis wore down a game New York Jets team to claim the AFC. Over in the NFC, it took the Saints overtime to dispose of Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings. Now, the top seeds in the NFL playoffs will meet in the Super Bowl for the first time in over a decade.
The opening betting line has already been set at some sports books, and the Colts are the favorites to win the Super Bowl. Indianapolis is favored by 5, or 5.5, depending on the sports book. The odds makers are expecting a shootout, with the early total for the game over fifty.
The Colts will be led by Peyton Manning, who will be looking for his second Super Bowl title. Jim Caldwell became just the fifth rookie head coach to lead his team to a Super Bowl birth.
New Orleans, on the other hand, is new to the big stage. The Saints have never been in the Super Bowl, and their nerves showed at times during the NFC title game. Quarterback Drew Brees, according to many analysts, is the second best quarterback in the league behind Manning.
The game will be held in Miami, which is good news for Colts fans. The last time the game was in Miami, Indianapolis defeated the Chicago Bears for Manning's first Super Bowl win. The two teams will now have two weeks of hype leading up to the game on February 7th.
