Super Bowl Betting Odds: Line Up To Six In Some Sports Books
The Indianapolis Colts performed well enough in their two playoff games that odds makers made them the betting favorites going into the Super Bowl. The opening line had the Colts favored by four over the New Orleans Saints.
Now, just four days later, sports books have adjusted that line, and Indianapolis is favored by six points. That gives an indication on who the gambling public believes will win the big game.
The Colts may have been playing to tie the Miami Dolphins as the only teams in NFL history to go undefeated. That dream ended, however, when the Colts pulled many of their starters in a loss to the Jets in the fifteenth game of the year.
Many analysts believed that sitting their starters for much of the last two games of the regular season would have hurt the Colts. All along, the organization held true to their public front that the undefeated season meant nothing, and that their goal was to win the Super Bowl.
After dominant performances against both the Baltimore Ravens and the Jets, the Colts again have everyone remembering how dominant of a team they can be when they actually play all of their starters for the entire game. This is a team that won over twenty consecutive games until that loss to the Jets.
There is still over a week until the Colts and Saints suit up and meet in the Super Bowl. In that time, there will be line movements based on where the gambling money is going. After four days, however, it appears that many more bettors are impressed with the Colts body of work this season more than what the Saints have accomplished.
