Super Bowl Gambling At The Center Of ESPN Broadcast
NFL commissioners can continue to parade around and claim that their sport's popularity is not built on gambling, but they are getting a dose of reality this week from television networks that have embraced the notion of gambling on the big game.
ESPN touts itself as the worldwide leader in sports, and this week they exemplified what many had already known, gambling is a big part of the Super Bowl. On Friday, hank Goldberg appeared on The Herd with Colin Cowherd.
The two ESPN personalities went back and forth talking about all the different aspects that go into making an NFL bet. Goldberg, during one segment, pointed out that bettors should never use their heart when picking a team to bet on.
In other part of the interview, Goldberg proclaimed that he thought there was no need for gamblers to use tout services, and that their winning percentages are not much better than the average gambler. It was the type of information that fans are looking for these days.
The Indianapolis Colts and the New Orleans Saints will battle tomorrow to decide who will become the next Super Bowl champion, but for fans, they will be playing for much more. bettors will have nearly $100 million on the line by the time the game is in full swing.
The NFL has only one day left until the big game, and as naive as they want to act, they need only look at the coverage on one of their main broadcasting partners to tell them the truth. The game means a lot to fans, but it means much more these days because of the gambling.
