Tennis Gambling May Change After Venus Williams' French Open Outfit

Tennis is not considered to be one of the top sports for gamblers to place wagers on, but that may change in the near future. The outfit that Venus Williams had on during her French Open match over the weekend may convince more of the male population to tune in to tennis.

Males are largely responsible for the majority of wagers that are placed at online gambling sites and land-based sports books. Action seems to be the number one ingredient when it comes to sports that these males will wager on.

The NFL is at the top of the list when it comes to sports betting. College basketball is second, with March madness and the Super Bowl accounting for a large percentage of annual bets. Venus Williams, however, may have changed the future of sports gambling on Sunday.

Williams came out on to the court for her French Open match in what can most easily be described as lingerie. The top tennis star insisted that the outfit was not see through, that it only gave the appearance of being see through. Still, the buzz about the stars clothing has been a hot topic on the Internet on Monday.

"I expect that many males will tune in to Venus' next match just to see what type of revealing clothing she will wear," said Gaming Analyst Steve Schwartz. "And if they are tuning in, the likely scenario also has some of these males placing bets on the match."

Williams, who has won many singles and doubles titles in her career, has never won the French Open. Perhaps part of her strategy was to show up looking sexy, and hope that it intimidated her opponent, although in the early stages of the tournament is not typically where Williams struggles.
