USC Back On Top Of College Football Polls After One Week
The USC Trojans had to be a bit surprised when the preseason polls came out and they were not number one. They are used to being considered the best team in college football before the season starts.
Their number two ranking must have really irritated the Trojans, because they took care of business in a big way in their opener against Virginia. Not only did they defeat a bowl team from last season, they wiped them off the field.
Thanks to that effort and Georgia's dismantling of a division II team, USC is now once again on top of the college football polls. They passed Georgia by the slimmest of margins, and now are in position to defend their ranking when they face number three Ohio State in a couple of weeks.
Georgia will regroup as the number two team, with plenty of time left to regain their top spot. They face a difficult SEC schedule, and by the end if they remain undefeated most likely they will be playing in the national championship.
Oklahoma stays in the same number four position in the rankings while Florida is the number five team. The Gators should get an early season test when their in state rival Miami Hurricanes visit this weekend.
