"These shoes fit perfectly to a person's foot and it feels as if the athlete is running barefoot," said Analyst Brad Dawkins. "If these shoes catch on within the sprinting world, it certainly could shave a couple tenths of a second off a sprinters time. That, in turn, would change the betting odds for future races."

The FiveFingers shoe may not even be just a fad. Harvard has completed a study that claims that barefoot running is better than running with shoes. Other well-known newspapers and magazines have also praised the FiveFingers shoe. The cost of these form fitting shoes is similar to the top sneakers on the market, running from $75 to $125 a pair.
