When Will Sports Books Allow Bettors To Gamble On Steroid Era?
Sports books just concluded the NFL season with a Super Bowl that had almost every imaginable betting prop available to gamblers. It begs the question as to how far these sports books will go to win money.
Steroids have become the big topic in Major League Baseball over the past several seasons. Which of a persons favorite stars of the past two decades is found out to have taken steroids is a popular headline on SportsCenter.
Why then, have sports books not tried to exploit this situation for money? They easily could place odds on a list of ballplayers and whether those players will be exposed in the next year for previous steroid use. Or how about odds Barry Bonds is found guilty of perjuring himself. Although these odds will certainly, if they do not already, exist.
In light of a Sports Illustrated report on Alex Rodriguez failing a drug test back in 2003, odds makers could place an over/under prop on how many more players that Jose Canseco called out actually are confirmed steroid users.
The possibilities are endless, and if a journalist can come up with these props, then executives who are paid to think of this stuff could definitely come up with lists of steroid props that would be in the hundreds.
It used to be that sports books would allow bets on which players will make it to the Hall of Fame. The game of baseball has changed, however, and sports books should be changing along with it.
