Wimbledon Betting Odds: Williams Sisters Meet In Finals Again
The Williams sisters, Serena and Venus, have been dominating women's tennis for the better part of a decade now. For sports books, it is always intriguing to post a proposition bet on whether or not the two will meet in the finals of an event.
At Wimbledon, gamblers that played that prop bet won last year, when Venus beat her sister Serena in the Wimbledon final. Those who took a shot again this year with the same bet, won again.
Serena punched her ticket to the finals in dramatic fashion, staving off match point and coming from behind to defeat fourth seeded Elena Dementieva. It was the longest semi-final women's match at Wimbledon in forty years.
Venus did not have as much trouble defeating top seeded Dinara Safina. She won in straight sets in a nearly perfect display of tennis. It now sets up the second all Williams' final in a row.
"A fourth final-it's so exciting. It was so hard before my match to watch all that drama," said Venus, "It was so difficult. But the hardest part is next to come, to play Serena."
Williams was referring to the final that will be held on the Fourth of July. Venus won last year's match up, while Serena has beaten her sister in the 2002 and 2003 finals. The Williams sisters have won seven of the past nine Wimbledon titles.
