Wimbledon Final Gambling Odds: Federer Favored Over Nadal
Roger Federer was embarrassed last month when he was thoroughly outplayed by Rafael Nadal in the finals of the French Open. Most would have thought that Nadal was ready to claim the number one spot in the world of men's tennis.
That theory will be tested once again tomorrow. In order for Nadal to finally slay the giant that has been Federer, he must win on a surface that is not clay. The Wimbledon final provides that surface.
Federer is still the gambling favorite in the match, even though many believe that it is time for Nadal to finally pass him as the world's best player. Federer has odds of -150, while Nadal is at +110.
In the women's final today, Venus Williams defended her Wimbledon crown from last year by defeating her younger sister Serena. The news was not all bad for Serena, as her and Venus won the doubles title later in the day.
With every great sports story, whether it be a team or an individual, there was a final hurdle that had to be cleared before greatness could be achieved. That hurdle for Nadal is Federer, and in the Wimbledon final he will once again get the chance to stake his claim as the world's best tennis player.
