With NFL Complete, Gamblers Shift To College Basketball Betting
College basketball has become almost as big a gambling draw as college football. With the Super Bowl bringing an end to the NFL season on Sunday, the focus of gamblers will now shift to college hoops.
For those who wait until football is completely over to start paying attention, they have missed out on an entertaining season so far. The top teams are great and come from the ACC as usual, but the Big East also is playing good ball.
Wake Forest was poised to become the new number one team in the nation after beating Duke in the middle of the week. Those hopes were dashed after they lost to Georgia Tech, a team who had zero conference wins before that game.
North Carolina had a couple of losses earlier this year, but they have returned to a form that appears championship worthy. If they continue their strong play, they might climb all the way back to number one, a spot they opened the season in.
The usual suspects are at the top of the rankings. Connecticut, and Pittsburgh from the Big East, and the Blue Devils, Demon Deacons, and the Tar Heels from the ACC. The SEC is having a down year, with only Kentucky being ranked in last weeks polls.
The conference play on campuses around the country has heated up in recent weeks and it will all build towards March Madness. Over the next month, tournament seeding will be on the line, making it all the more difficult for gamblers to predict the outcomes of games.
