With Steelers Down, Saints And Colts Emerge As Betting Favorites

The Pittsburgh Steelers were a team that many experts believed had the personnel to become a dynasty at a time when parity reigns supreme in the NFL. The Steelers, however, have played themselves out of the playoff race, and left the door open for another team to jump to the top.

Currently, there are two teams that are the betting favorites to take that leap. The Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints have become the gambling darlings of many bettors, and sports books have adjusted proportionately.

Neither team has a loss on their record yet this season. That makes it difficult for odds makers to predict that any teams other than the Saints and Colts will be meeting in Miami in February. There is a possibility both teams could remain undefeated until they meet.

Other teams also have their eyes on the prize. The Minnesota Vikings in the NFC, and the San Diego Chargers in the AFC, both look like teams that could put a strong playoff run together. The Vikings and the Chargers were favorites of many analysts before the season started.

The next level of possible playoff teams involves the Giants, Eagles, Cowboys, and Cardinals in the NFC. Over in the AFC, there are still the Broncos, Patriots, Dolphins, Jaguars, and Jets.

Arizona may be the wild card in the NFC. They were in the Super Bowl last season, and after dismantling the Vikings last Sunday night, the Cardinals again appear equipped for a possible chance to defend their NFC Championship of a year ago.
