World Cup Betting Odds: Favored Spain Takes The Field Today

The Spanish team is loaded with stars and their first game of the tournament is not expected to be a tough battle. Spain is facing Switzerland, a team that does not have even half the star power that Spain will have on the field.

The Spanish team has odds of -400, leaving gamblers to wager $400 for every $100 they would like to win should Spain emerge victorious. Switzerland has odds of +1100, giving those who like long shots a legitimate opportunity.

The host nation, South Africa, also will return to the field after their draw in the first match of the tournament. South Africa is a slight underdog against Uruguay. The odds makers have posted South Africa with odds of +215, and Uruguay enters the game with odds of +135.

The early match of the day will feature Chile and Honduras. Neither of these teams are expected to make a run at winning the World Cup, but their countries are hoping they can at least get out of the group stage. Chile is the favorite, with odds of -170, while Honduras has odds of +450.

On Thursday, Lionel Messi and Argentina will take the field for their second match. Their opponent will be South Korea. France will face off with Mexico, and Greece and Nigeria will play in the prime time match.
