World Cup Final Betting Odds: Gambling High On The Dutch And Spain
The 2010 World Cup final betting odds have been out since mid-week, and Spain is considered the gambling favorite. The Netherlands, however, have odds that could be enticing to bettors that have watched the Dutch play throughout the tournament.
Spain and the Netherlands will square off in what guarantees to be an emotional day for fans of both teams. Neither country has ever won the World Cup, meaning that the potential for great joy exists on both sides. Of course, that means the potential for disappointment also exists.
Spain was one of the tournament favorites coming into the World Cup, and they will enter the final match with odds of +105 to win the Cup. The Netherlands return odds of +255, meaning gamblers will be receiving more than two to one on their money in they choose the Netherlands and the Dutch prevail.
The Netherlands began their run in the World Cup this year with a 2-0 win over Denmark. They also shut out Japan 1-0, and beat Cameroon 2-1 to win their group. In the second round, they beat Slovakia, and in the quarter-finals they knocked off tournament favorite Brazil.
The semi-finals had the Dutch matching up with Uruguay, and although the game was close early, the Netherlands played a stellar second half en route to a 3-2 win. Now they will have to defeat another of the tournament favorites to capture the title.
Spain's World Cup began with a shocking 1-0 loss to Switzerland. The Spanish squad then righted the ship, and won their next five matches in a row. Germany was a formidable opponent in the semi-finals, but Spain came out off the pitch that night with a 1-0 victory.
The final match will be played tonight at Soccer City in South Africa. ABC will televise the match live, with the winner becoming a first time champion.
