World Cup Group A And Group B Gambling Comes To An End Today
South Africa was not expected to make it out of the group round in the 2010 World Cup. When the host nation defied the odds and battled Mexico to a draw in the first game, suddenly thee was hope in the country. Now, South Africa will get one final chance to move on to the next round.
Gamblers will be taking their last look at all of the teams from Group A and Group B, with eight teams hitting the pitch today. South Africa is facing perhaps the most discombobulated of the remaining squads, France.
The French players spent this weekend protesting the removal of one of their teammates, and they even refused to practice one day. France is in a similar situation as South Africa, both having one point and a negative goal differential. France is the betting favorite, with odds of +125. South Africa returns odds of +220.
Mexico and Uruguay enter their match today only needing a draw to move on. It is likely that even the loser of this game would advance because of goal differentials, but both teams would like to avoid that fate. Mexico has odds of +235, and Uruguay's odds are slightly higher at +335.
In Group B, Argentina has already qualified for the round of sixteen, and Nigeria has been eliminated. The two teams that know their fate can have a big impact on who moves on out of South Korea and Greece, each of whom have three points.
Greece has the tougher road, having to beat Argentina for a chance to move on. They are heavy underdogs at +550. Argentina has odds of -170, and has played as well as any team in the tournament thus far. South Korea's odds of winning are +140, and Nigeria is +200 to pull the upset.
