World Series Betting Odds: Can Pedro Conquer The Bronx?

The New York Yankees and their fans felt that their team was simply too strong at home to lose to the Philadelphia Phillies in the World Series. After the Phillies game one dominance, the Yankees had better re-think their entitlement.

The Yankees dropped game one last night and now they must find a solution for an old nemesis. Pedro Martinez takes the hill tonight in game two, and should he beat the Yankees, their long playoff run may be heading towards the end.

Of course, Martinez is not the Pedro of old, and the Yankees still have one of the best lineups in baseball. Anyone watching them for the first time last night would not have guessed that judging by the way they looked against Cliff lee.

The Phillies, on the other hand, have already accomplished what they set out to do in New York. They wanted to win one game and bring the series back to Philadelphia with home field advantage in hand.

With that complete, the Phillies now look to the possibility of completely seizing control of the series. If they should win game two tonight, the Yankees would have to win two of three in Philadelphia just to get the series back to the Bronx.

Those are not odds that New York wants to face. Philadelphia has been a great home team all playoffs, and they are the defending champions. These are all indications that if the Yankees do not win tonight, it could be the beginning of the end of what is supposed to be an epic World Series.
