World Series Betting Preview: Game Six In The Bronx
This World series was expected to be one of the best in recent years. The New York Yankees were the best team in baseball throughout the year, and the Philadelphia Phillies are the defending World series champions.
The first five games of the series have not disappointed. There have been many momentum swings, awesome even bigger swings of the bat. Add in the dominating pitching performances and there is the making for one of the best Fall Classic's of all-time.
In order for this to go down as one of the best, the Phillies will have to push the series to seven games. In order to do that they must beat Andy Pettitte, the pitcher with the most post season wins ever.
Philadelphia is sending no stranger to October heroism to the mound themselves. Pedro Martinez has been in this moment before, and he has succeeded. Tonight, there will be no room for error. If he pitches the Phillies into a game seven, he will have solidified himself as a first ballot Hall of fame player.
The story line coming in was the offensive fire power of both teams, but the story through five games has been the lack of production from Mark Teixeira and Ryan Howard. The two potential MVP's have been ice cold at the plate.
In New York's favor is a shift back to the Bronx for games six, and seven, if necessary. That also puts a lot of pressure on this group of Yankees. This is the first World series being played in the new Yankee Stadium, and a collapse in the final two games could forever jinx the new park.
New York and Philadelphia have put on a great show so far, and now only a few at-bats stand between these teams and their destiny. For the Yankees, there is hope their destiny arrives tonight. In Philadelphia, they are hoping history is not written until Thursday.
