World Series Betting Preview: Pressure Shifts To Phillies

The Philadelphia Phillies wanted to go into New York and take one out of two games against the New York Yankees in the World Series. They accomplished that goal and went back home feeling good about their chances to repeat.

Their good feeling changed drastically after game three on Saturday night. Now, the Phillies have the pressure on them to win game four, not an easy task considering they are facing one of the leagues best pitchers in C.C. Sabathia.

Philadelphia had the Yankees right where they wanted them after the first few innings Saturday. Not only did they split the first two games in New York, but they also scored early to take a three run lead in game three. Then, Cole Hamels imploded like he has far too often this year, and the Yankees seized control of both the game and the series.

New York turns to their ace to give them what would seem like an insurmountable series lead tonight. If the Yankees can win game four, they would only have to win one of the final three games of the series. Two of those games will be played in New York.

The Phillies best chance of a repeat lies with Joe Blanton coming up big tonight. Blanton must beat the odds and keep the Phillies in the game long enough for their heralded offense to score some runs against Sabathia.

Game four will be a pivotal one, and it takes place tonight. Either the Phillies will rebound and once again make this a competitive series, or the Bronx Bombers may be one step closer to winning their first championship in a decade.
