World Series Betting Preview: Series Shifts Back To Philadelphia
The New York Yankees were the best home team in baseball this season, but that did not help them much so far in the World Series. The Yankees lost home field advantage in game one of the series, and now must travel to Philadelphia.
The Phillies have an opportunity to become back to back champions without having to win another game in the Bronx. Of course, they will have to sweep three games at home, starting tonight, to do so. That will also be a difficult task.
These have been the two best teams in baseball for much of the year, and in the first two games of the World Series they showed why. Cliff Lee threw a brilliant game to open the series, and A.J. Burnett pitched the Yankees to victory in game two.
Tonight, Andy Pettite, the pitcher with the most all-time playoff victories, takes the mound for New York. He will be opposing last year's playoff hero for the Phillies, Cole Hamels.
The Yankees are considering coming back with C.C. Sabathia in game four. Philadelphia has already named Joe Blanton their game four starter, making tonight's game even more important for the defending champions.
Neither team has shown the explosive offenses that they displayed throughout the season. With the scene moving to Philadelphia, the offense that gets going first could be the one that swings the momentum. Philadelphia, much like New York, plays in a hitter friendly ballpark.
Game three is a swing game, and it takes place tonight. The Phillies will be looking to move one step closer to repeating as champions, and the Yankees will try to pull ahead in their quest to win their first title since 2000.
