World Series Game 5 Gambling Shows Some Bettors Lost Already

The World Series plays by a different set of standards than regular season games. Well, the actual game itself is different, but as some gamblers found out, the rules in Las Vegas do not change.

Depending on where in Las Vegas that gamblers made their bets on Game five of the World Series, they may have already lost those wagers. Several casinos have already paid out bets on the Philadelphia Phillies as the winning team.

Nevada rules claim that any baseball game that goes past four and a half innings is a completed game if the home team is winning when it gets delayed. If the game is tied, it becomes a no bet, except in the case of Monday night.

The game was postponed after the Rays tied the score in the top of the sixth. In a regular season game, the runs they scored in the top of the sixth would not have counted, and the game would have been a five inning official game. In the World Series, however, the commissioner made the decision to stop the game as is, and resume from that point.

Some Tampa Bay bettors were not that lucky. A few casinos in Las Vegas have stuck by Nevada rules and declared the Phillies the winner of the bet. They were leading after five, and a sixth inning was never complete, so the score reverted back to the last completed inning, which was the fifth.

Good news for anyone who bet on the Phillies. Bad luck for people who placed wagers on the Rays. In either case, the game resumes tonight, and some casino are actually waiting for the game to officially end before declaring a winner and paying out the bets.
