Yankees-Mets Have Dreams Of Subway Series
The New York Yankees have put together possibly the best line-up that Major League Baseball has ever seen, and piece that with the pitching of Wong and Mussina, as well as a closer by the name of Mariano Rivera, and you have the favorites to make the world series in the American League.
In the National League, The New York Mets come into the playoffs as the favorites, however there are are doubters around the baseball world that the Mets have enough pitching to make it after the loss of both Pedro Martinez and Orlando Hernandez for the whole post season.
The Mets do still possess the leagues best line up and are hoping that their youth, mixed in with some veteran presences, can carry them through the watered down National League.
Other teams that could end up surprising people and making a run deep into the post season are the Oakland A's with solid starting pitching, and the St. Louis Cardinals, who have kind of a seconds wind after almost blowing a 9 game lead in their division with two weeks left in the season.
The Yankees last met in a subway series back in 2000, with the yankees keeping their reign on the city by defeating the Mets. It is the last time the Yankees have won the series.
