Yankees Sent Packing While Mets Move On To Championship Series
The New York Mets have lived in the shadows of the crosstown Yankees for much of their existance, however, in 2006 there will be no shadows, as the Mets completed a sweep of the Dodgers in a national divisional series, while the Yankees lost their series to Detroit.
After winning game one against the Tigers the Yankees were expected to make quick work of their series, but the first game would be the only one the Yanks would win , as they fell to an upstart Detroit team.
In the National League, the Mets took care of business in L.A. completing a three game sweep, which comes as somewhat of a surprise, after the Mets went into the post season without their two top pitchers, Pedro Martinez and Orlando Hernandez.
Next up for the Mets will be the winner of the San Diego St. Louis series. The NLCS is set to poen Wednesday night at Shea Stadium in New York. Flushing, New York, the home the Mets, not the Yankees.
