History of Roulette - Roulette began in France in the 1600's and it is one of Europe's most popular casino games. Monte Carlo in Monaco is known across the world as the roulette capital. The US has also picked up the game and roulette is offered in an American version at all Las Vegas and Atlantic City casinos. Macau also features roulette which is mostly played by very high rollers.

The Roulette Wheel - In European roulette the wheel has 37 slots with 1 representing a 0. In American roulette the wheel has 38 slots with 2 representing a 0. The 0's are normally represented with a green color background and the other numbers trade off between red and black.

The Game of Roulette - To play roulette you place your chips wherever you would like on the board. You can also place chips on lines representing half one number half another, or on an axis which represents four numbers. You can also bet on odds or evens, reds or blacks, thirds of the board, columns of the board, or halves of the board. The less chance of the ball lands on a spot, the higher it pays out if it hits.

Roulette Payouts -

A bet on one number only, called a straight-up bet, pays 35 to 1.
A two-number bet, called split bet, pays 17 to 1.
A three-number bet, called street bet, pays 11 to 1.
A four-number bet, called corner bet, pays 8 to 1.
A six-number bet, pays 5 to 1.
A bet on the outside dozen or column, pays 2 to 1.
A bet on the outside even money bets, pays 1 to 1.
